Pink Floyd Inspired Mixed Media Canvas Part Deux!!

Hey Everyone!! I hope you had an awesome weekend!! My weekend was pretty good, watched some movies with the family. I even got some crafting time in as well.
For today's post, I have a canvas I created for hubby that was inspired by his favorite band, Pink Floyd.
This is the second project I created for him with this theme, the first was a canvas inspired by "The Wall" album cover. You can view that project by clicking the link here: .Pink Floyd Inspired Canvas!!.
For this project I used a much larger canvas and used the song lyrics as the backdrop.
Here's the pic for you to check out:

The canvas measures 16 x 24".
To begin this project, I went straight to my Cricut to die cut the letters to spell out the first verse.
I used my Paper Lace 2 cartridge for that and cut the letters out at 1 1/2".
I used a temporary adhesive to adhere the letters down.
I then mixed some grey and brown paint together and sponged it onto the canvas, being careful not to shift the letters.
I actually worked in sections for this part.
I would sponge the paint on and use a large dry brush to go over it, to smooth it out and let the texture of the canvas come through.
Once I had the entire piece covered, I set it aside to dry.

Once dry, I removed the letters to reveal the verse underneath.
I then grabbed a few stamps and light brown ink and began stamping the background in a few spots.
I sponged the edges of the canvas to give it a more grungy look.
I also made sure to paint and distress the sides as well.
All that was left to do now, was add the embellishments.

I added some hinges and vintage buttons.
I painted the pieces with a couple coats of gesso, let them dry, then went over them with a light brown ink.

I added a few Tim Holtz Trinket Pins in the corner and a few vellum pieces.

To finish it off, I made the prism from their album cover.
I made it out of Grunge Paper, white cardstock and paint.
I also used my handwriting to complete the lyrics from the song.

And voila!! canvas complete!!

I hope you enjoyed this project for today!
Thansk for stopping by, enjoy the rest of your day and Peace!! :)

Kitty Bee Designs Aloha Friday "Fall Colors" Challenge!!

Hey Everyone!! Happy T.G.I.F to you all!! I hope your Friday is off to a great start! For today's post, I have a card I created for the Kitty Bee Designs blog.
It's for the latest Aloha Friday Challenge and the theme is "Fall Colors".
Make sure to head over to the Kitty Bee Designs blog to play along and check out all the wonderful cards created by the DT members.
And don't forget, there is also a great prize pack for you to win from our sponsor: Stitchy Bear Stamps.

With that said, let's move on to the card I created using the "Fall Colors" theme:
Here's the pic for you to check out:

The card base is Craft cardstock measuring 5 1/2 x 7".
I used VersaMark ink and a few leaf stamps from an Inkadinkado mini stamp set, to create this border on the card.
With the card base complete, I set to work on the image

The image I chose for this project is this adorable "Out on a Limb Owl" from the Kitty Bee Designs Store.
I printed the image off on white cardstock and used my Copics and Bic MarkIts to color it in.
Here's a rundown of the colors I used:
- Body- E15, E18
- Face and Belly- C01, R20
- Heart- Rambunctious Red, Honey Brown
- Beak and Feet- Summer Melon, YR04, Sunset Orange
-Tree Limb- E13, E15, E18

I added a few details on the owl's body using a white gel pen.
I then cut the image out and set it aside.

My initial idea for this card was to create a set of three polaroids with leaves falling from one photo into the other.
But my card base was not big enough so I decided two photos would do.
I don't own a polaroid die but I was able to make my own using a square stencil and a ruler.
I traced the square onto a sheet of white cardstock and with my ruler, just extended the bottom line about a 1/2".
I cut the photos out and inked the edges in a light grey ink.
The photos measure 3 1/4 x 3 3/4".

One thing I did differently when creating these photos, was not to cut the middle out.
Instead, I cut out two 3" squares to layer on top.
I used Distress Ink in Faded Jeans and a cloud stencil to create the background.
I inked the edges of the squares in grey ink and glued them down onto the photos.

I punched out a few small leaves out of white cardstock and used my Bic MarkIts to color them in.
I used some foam tape to add the leaves and the owl to the photos.
I layered them on the card base and adhered them down.
I added a few more leaves falling from the top photo into the photo with the owl.

To finish the card off, I added a banner with the sentiment "Happy Autumn", using a stamp and my handwriting.
And lastly, a few gold sequins for some added bling.

And ta-da!! card complete!!

I hope you enjoyed this project for today!
Thanks for stopping by, enjoy the rest of your Friday and Peace!! :)

Quick and Easy "Fall" Banner!!

Hey Everyone!! Happy "Hump" day to you all!! I hope your day is off to a good start!! For today's post, I have a quick and easy Fall Banner project to share with you all. I really love the rustic look of burlap banners with crisp white letters. I've seen a lot of these popping up all over the internet and I thought I would try my hand at creating one for myself.
I chose to make one with the idea of Fall in mind.
I'm pleased with the end result,  plus it took literally no time at all to create.
Here's the pic of the finished project for you to peruse:

For this project, I cut four pieces of burlap measuring 4 1/2 x 7".
I then ironed it so it would lay flat.
I used my Cricut, freezer paper, and my Paper Lace 2 cartridge to cut out letter stencils.
I laid out the letters on the burlap, ironed over the freezer paper so it would stick to the burlap, and painted the letters in using gesso.

Yup, I used gesso for this project.
White paint whether it's acrylic or spray paint is always in short supply at my house.
So I reached for the next best thing, which in this case, was gesso.
I added two coats, letting it dry in between, to get that crisp, bright white.
But you could just as easily apply one coat if you want a more rustic look.
I also painted a few leaves in the corners, set it aside to dry completely and then notched the ends.

To assemble the banner, I used some jute twine to hang my banner pieces.
I folded over the tops at about 1/2" down and hot glued them to the twine.
I added some leaves and flowers to the banner to embellish it a bit.
To finish it off, I tied the ends of the twine into a bow and attached it to my wall.

And voila!! banner complete!!

I hope you enjoyed this project for today.
Thanks for stopping by, enjoy thye rest of your day and Peace!! :)

Fall Wreath!!

Hey Everyone!! I hope you had a fantastic weekend!! As for me, my weekend was pretty laid back. We watched a few movies with the girls, my youngest had a Girl Scout ceremony early Saturday, and ate some good old home cooking.
Hubby's cooking to be exact. :)
It was a good weekend all around.
I even found a little time to make a wreath for our front door.

It's not your traditional circular wreath but something a little different.
The inspiration for this piece came from Pinterest.
Here's the pic of the wreath that inspired my creation:

I was in awe when I came across this project over the weekend.
I loved the look of it, the bow at the top, the arrangement with its pumpkins, leaves and straw, just about everything.
Also, I knew this was a look I could recreate using supplies I already had.
It's been ages since I've been to the craft store and I don't have any wreath forms laying around.
A couple things I did have were a 8 x 10" frame and some fall supplies I had left over from last year.
With these in hand, I set to work on a wreath for my front door using the pic above as inspiration.
I think it turned out nice but I'll let you decide that for yourself.
I

Here's the pic of my interpretation of this beautiful project:

For this project, I used a black frame that I had, removed the backing and glass, used some gesso and paint to give it the look of wood.
I first used some sandpaper to rough up the paint.
I painted two coats of gesso over the top, making sure to allow time for it to dry in between coats.
I used some brown acrylic paint mixed with a little water and sponged it over the top.
I then took a large dry brush to smooth out the paint and give it the look of wood grain.
I set it aside to dry.
To complete the look, I added some grey paint, that I thinned out with water and a dry brush to give it a distressed look.

With the frame complete, it was time to add the embellishments.
I added ivory, brown, yellow and red flowers to the frame.
I also added a few green leaves and a pumpkin to complete the look.

I made a monogram M for our last name out of a couple pieces of cardboard to add to the middle of the frame.
I wrapped it in jute twine to give it a rustic look.
I attached the M to a piece of red grosgrain ribbon and added it to the center using some hot glue.
To finish it off, I added a strip of burlap to the back and a bow at the top.

And ta-da!! wreath complete!!

I hope you enjoyed this project today!!
Thanks for stopping by, enjoy the rest of your day and Peace!! :)

Pink Floyd Inspired Canvas!!

Hey Everyone!! Happy Tuesday to you all!! I hope your day is off to a good start!! For today's post, I have a canvas I created for my hubby inspired by his all time favorite band: Pink Floyd.
He is a HUGE fan and I thought this project would make a perfect anniversary gift.
I have really been getting into creating one of a kind mixed media projects and this canvas is no exception.
Here's the pic for you to check out:

For this project, I used a printed canvas hubby had hanging in his bathroom previously.
I covered the entire surface with a coat of gesso and let it dry.
I made a one of a kind brick stencil from white cardstock and a rectangle that I cut from my Cricut.
I taped my stencil down and used embossing paste to create the bricks.
Once, I had the bricks done, I set the canvas aside to allow the embossing paste to dry.

After the bricks were dry, I covered the entire surface of the canvas, including the bricks, with a coat of gesso.
I added some color using a red acrylic paint mixed with brown, painted the surface, and used a baby wipe to wipe some of the paint off.
To make them look a little more realistic, I added a wash of black paint over the top, wiped it off with a baby wipe, inked the edges with a light brown ink and added some white paint splatters.

With the bricks done, I set to work on the rest of the background.
I mixed some grey and brown acrylic paints and used it to paint the entire background, making sure to be careful when painting around the bricks.
Once dry, I added some texture using some waffle paper, stamps and brown inks in Creamy Caramel and Chocolate Chip from Stampin Up.

For embellishments, I added a few buttons, rings and vellum frames.
I used a black Sharpie for the words "Pink Floyd The Wall" and a brown Pigma Micron Pen to add a few song lyrics.

And ta-da!! canvas complete!!

I hope you all enjoyed this project for today!!
Thanks for stopping by, enjoy the rest of your day and Peace!! :)

Feeling Sketchy Card Sketch #102!!

Hey Everyone!! Happy Sunday to you all!! I hope your day was off to a great start!! I'm back with another great card sketch challenge for the Feeling Sketchy blog.
Here's the photo of Card Sketch #102:

Make sure to head over to the Feeling Sketchy blog to play along and check out all the beautiful cards created by the wonderful DT members.
There are also some great prizes for you to win from our sponsors: Molossi, $30 Chipboard and Bling pack and Flourish with a Bling, $15 Gift Voucher.
This latest sketch is up and running now through September 29.
With that said, let's get on to the card I created for this latest challenge.

Here's the pic for you to check out:

The card measures 5 1/2 x 5 1/2" and uses black cardstock for the base.
I created this patterned background on the card by using some embossing paste, that I tinted black, and a stencil I cut using my Cricut.
I added some clear embossing powder over the top and set it aside to dry.
Once the embossing paste had time to dry, I went over the top with my heat tool to melt the embossing powder.
With my background complete, I set it aside to work on the other elements for the card.

In keeping with the sketch, I cut two top note pieces from pink cardstock @ 5 1/4" and one from white cardstock @ 5".
I layered the two pieces together, glued them down and added it to the card base.
I cut some circles out of black, pink and white cardstocks @ 3", 2 3/4" and 2 1/2", layered them on top of each other and glued them down.
This created a nice background for the image.

For the image, I used this "Princess Anya" stamp from The Greeting Farm.
I colored her in using my Copics and Bic MarkIt markers.
Here's a run down of the colors I used:
- Skin- E11, E13, R20
- Hair- E13, E15, E18
- Dress- Pink Flamingo, Peach Parfait, Honey Brown, C01
- Crown and Wand- Y08, Y15

I used Stickles on the wand and dress.
And for the crown, I used my Spica Glitter pen in Gold and added a few rhinestones.
With the image colored in, I cut it out, used foam tape to mount it onto the circle background, and used more foam tape to attach it to the card base.

All that was left to do now was to add a few finishing touches.

I added some flourishes, sequins and roses.
I cut a banner from a strip of pink cardstock and stamped the sentiment "Birthday Wishes".
I used my white gel pen to add a few stitch lines to the card base and banner.

And voila!! card complete!!

I hope you all enjoyed this project for today!!
Thanks for stopping by, enjoy the rest of your Sunday and Peace!! :)

I will be entering this card into the Simon Says Stamp Blog for their "Create A Background" Wednesday Challenge!! :)

"Home is Where the Heart is" Interactive card!!

Hey Everyone!! Happy T.G.I.F to you all!! I'm so glad that the weekend is almost here!! WooHoo!!! For today's post, I have an interactive card I created for a challenge over at the New** Catherine Pooler Blog.
She is having a "Housewarming Party" to celebrate her new redesigned site.

The theme for the challenge was to create a card with the theme of "Home" in mind.
So I got to thinking of some card designs I could make when it hit me. *Eureka* I could create an interactive card where the front of the card resembles a door, complete with trim, and have it open up to reveal the sentiment within.
I think I may have achieved the look I was going for but I'll let you decide.
Here's the pic for you to check out:

The card is a standard A2 size, 4 1/4 x 5 1/2".
I started off by marking off the areas for the trim.
I cut four strips of white cardstock at 1/4 x 5 1/2", stacked them two by two and adhered them.
For the trim on the top, I cut two strips at 1/4 x 4 1/4, stacked them and glued them together.
I used my C01 copic marker to create some shading on the trims.
Before attaching the trims to the card base, I placed them down, and measured the opening in the middle.
I jotted them down to use for the door panel.

For the door, I cut a sheet of red cardstock at 3 1/4 x 5".
I wanted to make the door look realistic so I cut some 1" squares and 2" rectangles to create the paneling on the door.
I cut some smaller squares and rectangles to place on top of the main panels.
Before putting the door together, I inked all the edges of the door and panels in Creamy Caramel ink form Stampin Up.
Then I glued all the pieces together.
I glued the door down to the card base, making sure to center it, leaving 1/4" around all sides.
I cut a slit along the top and right hand side of the door and scored the left side of the door to allow it to open and close.

I glued down the remaining sides left open, making sure not to glue down the door opening.
I added the trim pieces around the door, even mitering the corners, to make it look more realistic
To finish off the "front door", I added a gold brad for a doorknob.
And a wreath I made from wire, punched out leaves, a "Welcome" banner and a few sequins.
All that was left to do now, was work on the inside.

For the inside, I used an Anna Griffin patterned paper, inked the edges and adhered it down.
I printed the sentiment "Home is Where the Heart is" onto a sheet of white cardstock.
I cut it out and added a frame around it.

And ta-da!! card complete!!

I hope you enjoyed this project for today!!
Thanks for stopping by, enjoy the rest of your Friday and Peace!! :)

Be True to Yourself Mixed Media Canvas!!

Hey Everyone!! Happy Thursday to you all!! I hope your day is off to a great start!! For today's post, I'm sharing this Mixed Media canvas I created using a cute image my daughter drew.
Here's the pic of the completed project for your perusal:

To begin this project, I first colored the image.
I scanned the drawing my daughter had made into my computer and printed it out onto white cardstock.
I used my Copics and Bic MarkIt markers to bring this drawing to life.
Here's the rundown of the colors I used:
- Skin- E11, E13, R20
- Hair- E13, E15, E18
- Hat and Sneakers- Rambunctious Red, Honey Brown
- Pants- Blue Skies Blue, Oceanview Blue, Deep Sea Blue
- Shirt- C01, C03
- Jacket- C07, Tuxedo Black
Eyes- Key Lime, Honey Brown

I added a few stitch lines to the jeans, shirt, and sneakers with a white gel pen.
I added a few highlights to the eyes to make them pop.
I used my Spica Glitter Pen in "Pitch Black" to add stitch lines to the jacket and sparkle to the eyelashes.
I then cut the image out and set it aside to work on the canvas.

I used a 5 x 7" rectangular canvas for this project.
I mod podged a layer of white tissue paper on the top.
I also added some torn pieces of a scripted text tissue paper to a few areas.
Once dry, I sponged over the entire surface using a light blue acrylic paint.
I inked the edges in Creamy Caramel ink from Stampin Up and used this same ink to stamp this flourish.
Once I had the background done, it was time to start adding the embellishments.

For texture, I added waffle paper and lace that I inked with Creamy Caramel ink.
I used some clay medallion pieces, distressed them and glued them to the background.
I added a few red hearts that I cut and colored using Ranger Grunge Paper.
I distressed those as well and added some white stitch lines.
I used some chipboard flag pieces, painted them with gesso, and stamped a Hero Arts "Art Is Life" wood stamp over the top.
I added the sentiment" Be True to Yourself" using chipboard letters and Tim Holtz Alpha Ransom Letters.
I attached the image to the canvas using foam tape.
And lastly, to finish it off, I added a few pearls, sequins and this key that I distressed.

And voila!! project complete!

I hope you enjoyed this project for today.
Thanks for stopping by, enjoy the rest of your Thursday and Peace!! :)

Cutie Pie Challenge Blog Challenge #77!!

Hey Everyone!! Happy T.G.I.F to you all!! I hope your Friday is off top an awesome start!! I'm back with a card I created for the Cutie Pie Challenge Blog. This card is for their Challenge #77.
Here's the pic for you to check out:

The card base measures 4 1/4 x 6 1/4".
I cut two decorative card panels, one that measures 5 1/8" and the other 5", out of black and white cardstocks using my Cricut.
I set the black panel aside and began work creating a scene on the white panel.
I used washi tape to to mask off the lower half of the panel.
I used Distress Ink in "Faded Jeans" to add color to the bottom.
I removed the washi tape and added some color to the top using Tempting Turquoise ink from Stampin Up.
I set the panel aside to let the inks dry and work on the image.

The image I chose for this project is this adorable little "Mermaid" from The Greeting Farm.
I colored the image in using my Copics and Bic MarkIt markers.
Here's a rundown of the colors I used:
- Body- E11, E13, R20
- Hair- E13, E15, E18
- Tail- Key Lime, Forest Green, Margarita Green
- Shell Bra- Pink Flamingo, Tiki Hut Tan

I used a white gel pen to add some detail to the tail and Liquid Pearls in Lavender Lace for the hair.
I cut the image out and set it aside.

I wanted to create a rock for my mermaid to lay on, so I cut one out of Tim Holtz Grunge Paper.
I colored the entire surface with a grey alcohol marker, added some lines with a black marker and highlights with a white gel pen.
I cut a slit in the background panel, just big enough for me to slide a portion of the rock through.
Once I had my rock placed where I wanted I used some glue to adhere it down.
Just by cutting the slit in the panel, I created the illusion of the rock floating in open water.
Once I had the scene set, I glued it down to the black panel.

To add the mermaid to the rock, I used foam tape.

All that was left to do now was to add the embellishments.
I used clusters of roses in varying shades of blue and added them to the corners.
Lastly, I added silver starfish charms and sequins.

And ta-da!! card complete!!

I hope you enjoyed this project for today!
Thanks for stopping by, enjoy the rest of your Friday and Peace!! :)

I will also be entering this card into the Wags N Whiskers Stamps "For The Girls"  Challenge #137.

Newton's Nook Inky Paws Challenge #13!!

Hey Everyone!! I hope your day is off to a great start!! For today's project, I decided to create a card for the Newton's Nook Inky Paws Challenge
It seems like forever since I entered a challenge and I really miss it.
I wanted to find one that I could complete before the girls got home from school and that didn't take a lot of time to create.
So I came across this challenge from the Newton's Nook Designs blog and thought I would give it a try.
They provided a sketch to base your card on, plus, you have to use one of their images.

I used a freebie digi I downloaded from their blog a few months back to create the card I'm sharing with you all today.
Here's the pic for your perusal:

The card is a standard A2 size light blue cardstock base.
I cut a piece of blue patterned paper to 3 1 /4 x 5 1/2" for my card layer and used my ATG to adhere it down.
I cut a white cardstock piece at 3 x 5 1/4"  to layer on top of the patterned paper.
I used cloud stencils and Tempting Turquoise ink from Stampin Up to create this background for the image.
To give the clouds some texture, I swirled gesso over the top.
Once the background was dry, I used ATG to attach it to the card base.

For the image, I printed it out twice on white cardstock.
I colored the bird and balloon using my Bic MarkIt  and Copic markers.
Here is a rundown of the colors I used:
- Body- Oceanview Blue, Blue Skies Blue, Deep Sea Blue
- Beak- Summer Melon, YR04, Sunset Orange
- Balloon- YG03, Key Lime, Forest Green

I cut out each of the images, stacked them together and glued them down.
I arranged the images on the cloud background and used foam tape to adhere them down.
I cut a piece of black embroidery floss, tied it around the balloon and attached it to the bird's beak.

For the sentiment, I used the one that's included with this image and cut it into a banner shape.
I layered some blue and green papers behind the sentiment and glued it to the top right corner.
To finish the card off, I added two more banners, a black polymer clay medallion, sequins and rounded the bottom corners.

And ta-da!! card complete!!

I hope you enjoyed this project for today!!
Thanks for stopping by, enjoy the rest of your day and Peace!! :)

Feeling Sketchy Layout Sketch #101!!

Hey Everyone!! I hope your day was awesome!! I'm back with another great Layout Sketch Challenge from the Feeling Sketchy blog!
This is Layout Sketch #101:

Make sure to head over to the Feeling Sketchy blog to play along with us and check out the beautiful LO's created by the DT members.
And as always, there are some great prize packs for you to win from our sponsors: Molossi, $30 Chipboard and Bling pack and Flourish with a Bling, $15 Gift Voucher.
With that said, let's move on to the LO I created using this latest sketch:

For this LO, I chose this black and white photo of my daughter and I from 2005.
This photo plus this sketch set the stage for this monochromatic layout with its pops of color.
The black patterned cardstock, I used as my foundation, came from a DCWV "La Creme" paper pack.
I thought this paper would give me a good starting point to build my layout on.
I really loved the bold floral pattern and with just a few embellishments I was able to put the page together fairly easy.

I went around the edges of the 12 x 12" paper with my Distress Paint in "Antique Linen".
I used some waffle paper, as a stencil, and sponged some of the Distress Paint in a few places on the page, to add some texture.
I layered a few squares of pink and black papers, inked the edges, and adhered them to the page using my ATG.
For my photo, I inked the edges and used foam tape to attach it to the page.
With the base of my layout complete, it was time to add the embellishments.

I used black polymer clay pieces, rhinestones and pearls in the corners.
I added a few pink banners along the top and bottom.

For the photo, I added some black polymer clay border pieces and black rhinestones.

Lastly, I added this "LOL" title I created using my Cricut and some Tim Holtz Grunge Paper.
I thought the title was fitting for this page, it's obvious from the photo, that my daughter saw this as an opportunity to show off her goofy side.
When I showed her the finished layout, she laughed.

And voila!! layout complete!!

I hope you enjoyed this project for today!
Thanks for stopping by, enjoy your evening and Peace!! :)

Wall Decor for a Baby's Room!!

Hey Everyone!! Happy "Hump" day to you all!! I hope your Wednesday is off to a good start! I'm back with a DT Spotlight post for the Kitty Bee Designs blog.
I used a cute "Giraffe 1" image from the KBD etsy shop and created two wall hangings for a baby's room.
This project takes digi stamps and uses them in a whole different way.
I think these would make a great gift for anyone who's expecting.

Here are the pics for you to check out:

I used 2 6 x 6" square canvases to create these wall hangings
I kept the embellishments the same to make it easier to reproduce.
For the "Baby Boy" canvas, I used light blue cardstock to cover the entire surface.
(You could just as easily use paint, if you wanted).
I cut out some triangles for the banner using white and blue patterned papers.
I die cut the letters with my Cricut and glued them to the triangles.
I strung some white embroidery floss across the canvas, taped in the back, and used foam tape to attach the banner.
I stamped the sentiment: "A Baby is Cuddles, and tickles on toes.
The sweet scent of powder, a kiss on the nose".
in StazOn ink onto a square of white cardstock.
I matted the square on a sheet of blue patterned paper and adhered it down.
For the giraffe, I printed the image on white cardstock and used Copics and Bic MarkIt markers to color it in.
Here is a rundown of the colors I used:
- Body- Y08, Tiki Hut Tan
- Mouth, Ears- E11, R20
- Spots- E13, E15
- Heart- Oceanview Blue

Once I was finished coloring the image in, I cut it out leaving a small white border.
I added a blue bow tie and used foam tape to adhere it.
To finish it off, I added these star embellishments and a black gingham ribbon to hang it.

For the "Baby Girl" canvas, I used the same embellishments, ribbon, and sentiment.
I just switched the color scheme from blue to pink.
I also used the same color of markers to color the image in, just changing the color of the heart using a Bic MarkIt marker in Pink Flamingo.

I added a pink hairbow to the giraffe.

And ta-da!! project complete!!

I hope you all enjoyed this project for today!
Thanks for stopping by, enjoy the rest of your day and Peace!! :)
