"Best Wishes" Birthday Card featurinng Juliette!!

Hey everyone, I'm back again with another design team project for the Jiggery Makery blog.
For today's project, I created a birthday card featuring the sassy "Juliette" image from the etsy shop.

Here's a pic for you to check out:

The card measures 5 1/4" x 6 1/4" and uses a sheet of white card stock as the base.
I trimmed a sheet of black card stock to 5 1/8" x 6 1/8" and adhered it to the card base as my first layer.  Next, I trimmed a sheet of light blue card stock to 4 7/8" x 5 7/8," stamped a harlequin text stamp from Hampton Art, and used my tape runner to attach it.
I then set the card aside to begin work on the image.

I colored her in using my alcohol markers, and here's a quick rundown of the colors I used:

- Skin- E00, E11, R20
- Hair- E13, E18, E29
- Box & Bow- B00, B14, G43, G94

I trimmed the image panel down to 4 1/8" x 5 1/8." Next, I used my C01 & C03 Copic markers to color the bottom, and my B00 marker to add a shadow around the image. I added polka dots to the box using my white gel pen, and my Wink of Stella pen to add shimmer to the ribbon.
To finish the card off, I stamped the "Best Wishes," sentiment from an Inkadinkado set on a scrap piece of white card stock.
I cut the sentiment into a banner shape and adhered it to the image panel.
Finally, I used op dots to adhere the panel to the card base.

And ta-da! Card complete!

I hope you enjoyed this card for today!
Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy the rest of your evening!

Mermaid Grotto featuring SND Chelsea Mermaid!!

Hey everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful Easter Sunday! The project being featured today is one I created for a spotlight post over at the Scrap N' Dipity blog. I used the "Chelsea Mermaid" image from the Scrap N' Dipity shop and created an underwater grotto scene complete with fish and a seahorse.

Here's a pic of the card for you to check out:

The card measures 6" x 6 3/4" and uses two sheets of patterned card stock from the Graphic 45 "By The Sea," collection. I sandwiched the patterned papers between layers of white card stock to create a sturdy base for the image panel.

For the image, I printed it out twice on a sheet of white card stock. I cut the card stock in half; one half to create the scene and the other to color the image.

To create the grotto background for the mermaid,  I referenced a few photos from Google, picked the elements I wanted to add (rocks, coral, etc.), and penciled them in. Next, I went over the pencil lines with my fine tip black marker and trimmed the image panel.

I used my alcohol makers to fill the scene in and  here's a rundown of the colors I used:
                                                  - Rocks- C01, C03, C04, C06, C07
                                                        - Sandy Bottom- E95, E70
              - Plants- G40, G94, RV000, RV52, R14, R17, Y00, Y15, E97, E99, RV63, RV55
                                                        - Water- 0, B12, B14, B14

Finally, I added a few highlights to the rocks, plants, and sand using my white gel pen. With the background complete, I set to work on the image.

Here's a rundown of the colors I used for the mermaid image:
                                                            - Skin- E00, E11, R20
                                                            - Hair- E97, E99, E29
                                               - Fins & Tail- G43, G94, RV63, RV55

I fussy cut the image out and paper pieced her on the scene.

I cut the fish out of a patterned paper from the Graphic 45"By The Sea," collection and adhered them to the background. I used a seahorse stamp from an Inkadinkado set, colored it in, fussy cut it, and added it to the plants.

To finish off the card, I cut the "Mermaids Wanted" sign from a post card in the collection. I colored it  with my E13 & E18  Copic markers to give the look of wood, added it to a wood post I colored, and adhered it to the background using pop dots.

                                                           And ta-da! Card complete!

I hope you enjoyed this card for today!
Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy the rest of your day!

I'll be entering this card into these challenges:

Baby, Break-In & Back to Blogging!

Hey everyone, happy "Hump" day to you all!  I hope your Wednesday is off to a great start. Today's post will be a little different and one I have been meaning to write. If you're a follower of my blog, you know that for the past couple of  weeks I have been M.I.A from the blogging world. This was not an intentional or planned leave of absence but a result of circumstances that were beyond my control.
My story begins when I took a trip back home to meet my 1 month old niece. And can I just gush for a second here, but she is absolutely Gorgeous and so tiny!  She only weighed 6lbs & 4oz when she was born. When I got to hold her for the first time, it was pretty emotional experience for me, as a whole. This was my youngest sister's baby I was holding, I used to help my mom care for her. So it was kinda of a full circle moment.

I was only home for few days but I made sure to make the most of my time. I snapped plenty of pics, held my little niece as much as I could, and bought her adorable outfits. It was wonderful trip for all of us. We left for home early Sunday morning so that the girls could get ready for school the next day. We were all pretty tired by the time we pulled into the driveway, when my husband noticed that the door to our gate was open. We have a fence surrounding our backyard to keep the dog from getting out. Now before we left, I made sure that everything was locked up pretty tight, so seeing that gate open indicated something was afoul. Hubby got out of the car first to make sure everything was okay.
After he went in to the house,  I got out with my youngest and proceeded to walk to the backyard when I hear hubby calling me around front. When I meet up with him, he looks upset and is pacing back and forth. What he tells me next is every homeowner's worst nightmare, we were robbed!

He tells me that the house has been ransacked and instructs me to stay in the car with the girls.
He then calls the police and we proceed to break the news to our kids.
I won't go into what was stolen, but the police searched the house, asked us questions, and dusted for fingerprints. Apparently, our back door was kicked in, which is how they gained entry and the house was a total mess.
There is no worse feeling than to have your personal space violated.
Long story short, we have since replaced the items that were stolen and we have also placed security features around our home. We now have motion sensor lights, video cameras, and heavy duty locks and bars on our doors.
What I think they took from us that can't be replaced is the sense of security.

My modem was destroyed during the robbery which meant no Wi-Fi or internet connection for a little over a week. So all of the cards, videos and projects I had planned when I got back have been pushed back. So now I'm trying to play catch up which has been overwhelming.
So that's it, I finally get the chance to tell my story and explain my absence.
Thank you all for your patience and understanding, I appreciate each and everyone one of you.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

"Enjoy Life's Simple Pleasures" Card featuring "Penelope"!!

Hey everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend! I'm back with a Design Team project for the Jiggery Makery blog. The card featured today showcases one of Adele's beautiful images, "Penelope," which can be purchased at the Jiggery Makery etsy shop.

Here's the pic of the card for you to check out:

The card measures 4" x 6 1/2" and uses a sheet of purple card stock as the base.
The card design I kept pretty simple, focusing more on the background I created for the image.
I added subsequent layers to the card base using white and navy blue card stocks, that I cut going down 1/4"every layer.

Next, I went to work on coloring the image and creating the background.
Here's a rundown of the colors I used:

-Skin- E00, E11, R20
-Hair- E70, E74, E79
-Dress & Shoes- B00, B12, B14,  E95, E70

For the background, I drew in a night scene with some bushes; a vine and a few lanterns.
After penciling everything in, I went over it using my fine tip black marker.
Next, I erased all the pencil lines and colored the background in using my alcohol markers.

Here's a rundown of the colors I used:
-Sky-  B18, RV69, C08
-Bushes, Leaves, & Grass- G94, G28
-Sidewalk- C03, C04
-Lanterns- R14, R17, Y00, Y15, YG03, G46

I used my 0 Colorless Blender marker around each of the lanterns to mimic the glow they would give off at night.
Then, I added polka dots to the dress and red lanterns using my white gel pen.
I also added a few stars to the night sky.
I trimmed the image panel to 3 1/2" x 5 3/4" and backed it on a piece of  white card stock cut a 1/4" bigger.

Next, I adhered it to the card base and used a stamp from the Two Paper DivasLife's Simple Pleasures for the sentiment, "Enjoy life's simple pleasures".
Finally, I stamped it using my VersaMark ink and heat embossed it using my white embossing powder from Recollections.

And ta-da! Card complete!!

I hope you enjoyed this card for today!
Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your evening!! :)

We have some great sponsors lined up for this challenge, who are graciously offering prize packs to our Top 3 winners.

                                                               Lacy Sunshine Stamps

                                                                      Ppinky Dolls

Here's the card I created using the "Puppy Girl" image from Bugaboo Stamps:

Before I get started on the steps and materials I used to create this card, I just wanted to say that I am glad to be blogging and crafting again. It has been a hectic couple of weeks and unfortunately I had to take an impromptu break from all things craft related.
I hope to fill you all in on what's been happening on my end soon.
With that said, let's get back to the card.

The card measures 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" and uses a sheet of black card stock for the base.
I layered a sheet of grey card stock that I trimmed down to 3 1/4" x 6 1/4".
Then, I stamped a pattern on the card stock using a few small stamps from Prima.
I used my tape runner to attach it to the card base.

Next I worked on the image using my alcohol markers to color her in.
Here's a rundown of the colors I used:

-Skin-  E00, E11, R20
-Hair- E97, E99, E29
-Clothes, Shoes & Boots- C01, C03, RV63, RV55, C06, C08, B14, B18
-Puppy- C02, C04
-Background- B00, B12, C02, C04

I added a few details with my white gel pen to the bows, shirt, pants, and sidewalk.
Next I stamped the Eiffel Tower in the background using a rubber stamp.
I used both rubber and clear stamps for the birds and swirls.
I drew in a wavy line frame, and, to finish off the image, trimmed the image down to 1 3/4" x 5 3/4" and backed it on a piece of white card stock cut a 1/4" bigger.
Then, I layered the image panel on a sheet of stamped and embossed pink card stock.
Finally, I adhered it to the card base using foam tape.
As a finishing touch, I added a few silver sequins and the sentiment, "The Best Moments."

And voila!! Card complete!

I hope you enjoyed this card for today!
Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy the rest of your Sunday!! :)

Mixed Media Tag featuring Julie Nutting "Mindy" Stamp!!

Hey everyone, happy "Hump" day to you all!! I hope your Wednesday is off to a great start! I'm back with another great challenge from the Decorate to Celebrate blog! The theme is "Anything Goes," so please make sure to link up your fabulous projects and play along.
For my project, I created a mixed media tag using some papers from Prima and a Julie Nutting stamp.
Here's the pic for you to check out:

For the tag, I layered a few sheets of card stock and trimmed it down to 3 1/2" x 8 1/8".
I then layered a sheet of patterned paper from the Prima, "Epiphany" 6" x 6" paper pad.
Next, I used a stencil and my Distress Paint "Seedless Preserves," in my mini mister to spray a pattern on the paper.
To add a decorative border, I used a strip of white card stock and my Martha Stewart "Doily Lace Trim," border punch.
I added some color to the border using some ink smooshing and my "Seedless Preserves" Distress Paint.
Then I adhered it to the tag using my tape runner.

I added some ink splatters using a mixture of black acrylic paint and water.
Next, I attached a decorative die cut that I colored using my black paint/water mixture.
I used my MementoLuxe Tuxedo Black ink to go around the edges of the tag and my Recollections Black water color marker to add some shading around the border.
With the background of the tag complete, it was time to work on the image.

For the image, I used the "Mindy" stamp from Julie Nutting.
I stamped the image on a sheet of patterned paper from the "Epiphany," paper pad.
For her clothes and shoes, I stamped the doll a few times on sheets of patterned paper from the Hampton Art ki "Berry Blast" 6" x 6" paper pad.
I colored in her skin using my alcohol markers in Ivory, Vanilla, and R20
I used my Copic markers in E70, E29 & E79 to color in her hair.
I then added some shading to the clothes and shoes using my C01 & C02 markers.
Next, I fussy cut them out and adhered them to the main doll image.
I then cut the doll out and added a few pearls to dress her up a bit.

Then, using an "Eiffel Tower" rubber stamp and leftover scraps from the "Epiphany" paper pad, I created a trio of stamps.
I added some pieces from the border that I had cut to each of the stamps to frame them.
Next, I took a decorative border punch from Fiskars to add some flourishes and flowers to the stamps.
I then attached them to the tag using pop dots.

To add a few finishing touches to the tag, I added a decorative label plate from Recollections, added
a sentiment behind it, and attached it along the bottom.
The sentiment I used is from a Stampendous stamp set "Steampunk Shoes".
It reads: "Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore..."
Finally, I added the doll using some pop dots, and threaded some Tim Holtz Crinkle Ribbon through--dyed the same colors as the tag--through the top.

And voila!! Tag complete!

I hope you enjoyed this project for today.
Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy the rest of your day!! :)

For the diamonds, I used a patterned paper from the same paper pad, cut squares measuring 3 1/4" x 3 1/4", backed it on white card stock and attached them to the card front.
I added dash lines along the top, bottom and around each diamond with my white gel pen.
With the card base complete, I set it aside to work on the images.

I used this trio of floral images from the Bugaboo Stamps shop.
I used  my alcohol markers to color them in and here's a rundown of the colors I used:
-Flowers-  RV63, RV55, RV66, C01, G46, G28
-Background- Hobby Lobby Brand markers in 62 & 66

I added dots to the background using my white gel pen and some sparkle using my Wink of Stella.
Next I fussy cut the images out, backed them on white card stock and attached them using foam tape.

I added patterned paper to the inside of the card, opting to use the same paper I used for the front.
I cut it down to the same size as the card layer and added dash lines.
For the sentiment, I used the "Sending You" Avery Elle stamp set and heat embossed it using my white embossing  powder and VersaMark ink.

As a final touch I added a few pearls to the card front.

                                                   And ta-da!! Card complete!! :)
