Handmade Harbour "Happy Days" Challenge!!

Hey Everyone!! Happy "Hump" Day to you all!! I'm back with another project for the Handmade Harbour blog!! This week's challenge is entitled 'Happy Days" and there is a lot of great projects from the Design Team for you to check out. Make sure to stop by the Handmade Harbour blog: handmadeharbour.co.uk
to link up your "Happy Days" project and check out the store for the newest digital images.
My contribution to this week's challenge is a card I made using the newest stamp from the store.
This is image #551 "Beach Hut" and you can find it under the New stamp heading.

Here are the pics for your perusing pleasure;

To start this card off, I first printed the beach hut image twice onto white cardstock.
With the first image, I colored in the wood planks using my Bic MarkIt markers in Woodsy Brown and Honey Brown.
I added wood grain to the planks using my white gel pen, cut it out, and set it aside.
On the second image, I colored in the roof, door and bottom of the hut with my markers.
I used Cloud Nine Grey and Tuxedo Black for the roof and foundation.
And for the door, I used Hot Aqua.
Once I had all the pieces colored in. I glued down the front of the hut to the second image, with the roof, door and foundation.
I then cut it out and began work on my background.

For the background, I cut a sheet of heavyweight watercolor paper to 5 1/2 x 8".
I used my new Recollections watercolor markers from Michael's to color in the sky and water.
I wanted to create a sandy layer to bring this beach scene to life.
And to do that, I used a homemade embossing paste, added some color with ivory paint and used a spatula to spread it onto the paper.
I really like how the embossing paste gives the illusion of sand and adds texture to the background.
After I had my beach looking the way I wanted, I set it aside to give the embossing paste time to dry.

While that was drying, I stamped a few extra images to complete my scene.
I used an Inkadinkado "Summer Assortment" stamp set for the seagulls and palm trees.
I colored the images in with my Bic markers and cut them out.
For the beach ball, I printed it on white cardstock, colored it in and cut it out.
Now, that I had all my pieces completed, it was time to complete the card.

I used pop dots to attach the beach hut and Glossy Accents to glue down the birds and trees.
I added more embossing paste on the beach hut and trees to give the illusion of them being in the sand.
Lastly, I cut a 1" banner from white cardstock, stamped my sentiment "Sending my Love" and used my bone folder to create the illusion of it blowing in the breeze.
I added a black line to connect my sentiment and give the appearance of a sign being pulled by a plane, like the ones you see with ads at the beach.
To finish off the card, I attached my watercolor layer to a sheet of ivory cardstock cut at 5 3/4 x 8 1/4".

And ta-da!! card complete!!

I hope you enjoyed this project for today.
Enjoy the rest of your day and Peace!! :)

"Ceramic Tile Stamping, Part Deux"!!

Hey Everyone!! Happy Thursday to you all!! I hope your day is off to a fabulous start. It's Spring break for us down here in Louisiana and it's been pretty busy with my girls being home.
I haven't had too much time to craft as of late but I've been trying to do projects that wouldn't take more than an hour to complete.
I think I achieved just that with this project today.
I used a ceramic tile, added some color, a few stamps and transformed it into a decorative home decor piece.
I think this project turned out nice, but you know me, I'll leave that up to you to decide.

Here's the pic for your perusing pleasure:

The tile I used is a 6 x 7 3/4" rectangle.
I masked off a 1/2" all the way around the tile with washi tape to create a border.
I used my Adirondack Alcohol ink in "Butterscotch" to sponge the color onto the tile.
I wanted to go with a more muted, subtle look to give it that vintage feel.
After adding in my color, I set it aside and began the process of choosing the stamps I wanted to use.

I decided to go with a Recollections stamp set called "Vintage Ads".
This stamp set has some great images!
I stamped the main clock ad image in the center of the tile in Staz On Jet Black ink.
I stamped the notice ad stamp in the corners using the same black ink.
I used a stitch line stamp from a Tim Holtz Ideaology set to add a border.
Once the stamping was complete, I used a black measure tape washi (that I got from thememorynest.com), to create a border all the way around.
To finish it off, I used a clear acrylic spray to seal the tile and protect it.

And voila!! tile complete!!

I hope you enjoyed this project for today!
I had fun creating this project to share with you all.
Enjoy the rest of your Thursday and Peace!! :)

Handmade Harbour Home/Family Challenge!!

Hey Everyone!! Happy "Hump" Day!! I hope your Wednesday is off to a good start! Sorry I haven't posted anything new till now, but I've been busy creating projects for my DT teams, like this card I created for the Handmade Harbour blog.
The challenge for this week is to create a project with the theme of Home/Family in mind.
So, I made a card using the newest digital stamp from the Handmade Harbour store: handmadeharbour.co.uk.
This is the "Happy New Home" stamp which features the sentiment "Happy New Home" and a row of houses that I colored in using my Bic MarkIt markers.
You can find the stamp under the "New" stamp heading in the store.
And make sure you check out the blog to see what the other DT members have created to inspire you.

Without further ado, here's the card I created:

This is a standard A2 size card using Kraft cardstock as the base.
I added a green patterned paper from the DCWV stack called "Stack 8".
This is a great paper pack that has a ton of patterned papers in various colors.
Once I had my card base and layer done, I set to work on coloring my image.

I printed the image on white cardstock and trimmed it down to 3 3/4 x 4 3/4".
For the houses, I colored them in shades of brown, grey and blue using my Bic MarkIt markers.
I was able to try out a technique I saw on YouTube on how to give your colored images some texture.
I tried it out on one of the chimneys.
I colored it in using a grey marker and then went back in with black.
I used the black marker to add some shading and added dots to give the chimney the look of stone.
And then I went back in with the grey marker to blend it in.
I was pleased with the final result, so I added the stone texture look to the sidewalk, house and other chimneys.

For the background, I used my Bic MarkIt markers in  Oceanview Blue and Blue Skies Blue to fill it in.
Unfortunately, my light blue marker decided to die on me midway through coloring.
Hence, the happy accident in the middle of my sky, which I'm calling a "wispy, cloud cover". :)

Moving on, I printed the image a second time on white cardstock.
I colored in the small house in the middle, cut it out and used pop dots to attach it.
I colored in the windows of all the houses with my Oceanview Blue marker (before it ran out) and added white highlights with my gel pen.
After I had the image colored in, I matted it on a piece of green cardstock cut a 1/4" larger and used pop dots to adhere it to the card.

I cut out the sentiment "Happy New Home" , colored it with my green markers and used my ATG gun to glue it down on the image.
I cut the hearts out from the second printed image, colored them in and used pop dots to attach them to the card.
To finish it off, I used Glossy Accents on all the windows and hearts.

And ta-da card complete!!

I hope you enjoyed this project for today!!
I really enjoyed coloring this image and trying out a new technique.
Enjoy the rest of your day and Peace!! :)

Feeling Sketchy Card Sketch Challenge #87!!

Hey Everyone!!  Happy Tuesday!! I hope your day is off to a good start!!
For today's post, I have a simple card I created based on the latest Feeling Sketchy Card Sketch.
This is Card Sketch #87:

This month's sponsors are Molossi and Trinket Track and they have some great prize packs for you to win.
Stop by the Feeling Sketchy blog: feeling-sketchy.blogspot.com to play along and check out all the great cards designed by the DT members.

Here's the pic of the card I made based on this sketch:

This is a 4 x 4 1/4" card using white cardstock as the base.
I added a black cardstock layer cut @ 3 3/4 x 4" and glued it down to the card base with my ATG gun.
I cut down a sheet of this pink patterned cardstock @ 3 1/2 x 3 3/4" and added it to the card.
The paper came from an American Crafts Dear Lizzy "5th and Frolic" paper pack.

To finish off this simple card, I added a 3/4" strip of black cardstock to tie it in the black from the background.
I added a scalloped border I cut from a coordinating darker pink cardstock to the top and bottom of the strip.
I used my ATG gun to adhere it down.
I stamped the sentiment "Thinking of You" in VersaMark ink and then embossed it in black.
I added this paper flower sticker embellishment from a Martha Stewart set.
And as a final touch, I added a few pearls around the sentiment and the center of the flower.

And voila! card complete!!

I hope you enjoyed this project for today!!
I look forward to seeing what you create using this sketch!!

Remember When !!

Hey Everyone!! I hope you had a great weekend! My daughter's birthday was on Friday and we had a blast celebrating with her. She loved the canvas and it's now hanging on the wall in her room. On Saturday, we all went out and just enjoyed time together.
Now for today's post, I have a retro inspired layout I created.
I had actually done this LO a while back but it didn't have a pic to go along with it.
So, last night I was rummaging through my childhood photos and found one that would work with this page.
It's an old school photo of me back in 2nd grade, the year 1982! Omg!!
Here's the pics for your perusing pleasure:

To start this LO off, I used a 12 x 12" sheet of white cardstock as my base.
I layered a 11 3/4 x 11 3/4" aqua cardstock from the DCWV Timeless Texture stack.
I inked along the edges with black ink and used my ATG gun to glue it down.
Now the aqua, pink, white, and black color scheme came from this retro ad I found in my stash.

The colors go so well together and it gives the LO a '50's vibe (although the photo is from the '80's).

I added a 6" strip to the center of the page using pink, black, aqua and light pink cardstocks and layering them to create this look.
I also used half circles in coordinating colors to act as tabs along the strip.
I cut down my ad to 3 x 3 3/4" and matted it on pink cardstock cut a 1/4" bigger.
I placed a square paper doily cut in half, on the strip, to act as my journaling spot.

For the photo mat, I layered 5 pieces of cardstock together and used pop dots to adhere it to the page.
I added a few punched hearts in coordinating cardstock to the upper right corner.
And used my ATG gun to attach my photo to the mat.

In the upper right corner, I added strips of cardstock cut @ 1 - 1 3/4", inked the edges in black, and added some hearts and pearls.
For the decorative band along the top of the page, I used my Over the Hill Cricut cartridge to cut this piece out of white and aqua cardstocks.
I added a black circle with a pink heart to the center of the band.
And I used a light pink paper doily heart to dress up the left hand side.

For the sentiment "Remember When", I turned to my George and Basic Shapes Cricut cartridge to cut the letters out @ 1 1/4 - 2".
I layered some more strips of cardstock along the bottom to mat my letters on.

To finish off the LO, I added pearls, hearts, circles, and stitch lines to complete the look.

And ta-da! page complete!!

I hope you all enjoyed this project for today.
Have a great Monday and Peace!! :)

Feeling Sketchy Layout Sketch #86!!

Hey Everyone!! Happy Sunday!! For today's post, I have a LO I created for the latest Layout Sketch over at the Feeling Sketchy blog http://feeling-sketchy.blogspot.com/.
This is Layout Sketch #86:

Our sponsors for this month, Molossi and Trinket Track, have some great prize packages for you to win!
Molossi is offering a $30 Chipboard and Bling prize pack and Trinket Track is offering a $15 gift card to spend in their store.
Make sure to stop by, play along and check out all the beautiful LOs the DT members have created!

Here is the LO I created from this sketch:

I decided to try my hand at Mixed Media for this layout.
I recently started watching some videos on YouTube on how to create this look.
It took me a few days to lay everything out and a lot of thought and planning went into this.
I'm pleased with the final result and it was a fun LO to create.

To begin, I started with a 12 x 12 sheet of white cardstock.
I sponged some ivory paint onto the paper to give it an aged look.
I used Creamy Caramel ink from Stampin Up to add a darker color along the edges.
I tore a piece of script printed tissue paper and mod podged to the right hand side of the page.
I also cut a scalloped trim and added it to the bottom of my layout.

I turned to my Tim Holtz Stamper's Anonymous set to stamp the stitch lines, seals and rulers to create a one of a kind pattern.
To add a bit of texture to my photo and page, I used some waffle paper as a stencil and sponged on some white acrylic paint over the top.
By doing this step,  I was able to get a subtle dot pattern.

For the papers matting the photo, I used a ColorBok paper pack called "Rosewood".
I cut 1" and 1 1/2" strips from the patterns I chose, tore the edges and inked them with Creamy Caramel ink.
I added them to the LO in a cross hatch pattern, overlapping some of the papers on top of each other.
Once I had my pattern laid out, I used my ATG gun to glue them down.

For the mixed media elements, I used a bingo card with the sentiment "Moments" that I tore in half and placed on the top and bottom.
I used a clay trinket and one half of a clasp that I painted white as my photo corners.
I added a white, corrugated cardstock heart, a heart doily, and a key painted white to frame the pic.
I also used some pink flowers from a Recollections set, added white paint to them and some pearls to round out the rest of the embellishments.

Finally, I added a few more embellishments to the corners.
I used some puzzle pieces that were painted and mod podged with the same script paper.
I added some hearts, the other half of the clasp, a flower and some pearls to complete the look.

And voila! layout complete!!

I hope you all enjoyed this project for today.
I look forward to seeing the fun LO's you'll create using this sketch!
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday and Peace!! :)

"Frozen" Paper Doll Canvas Reveal!!

Hey Everyone!! Happy Thursday to you all!! I hope your day is off to a great start.
For today's post, I have the completed "Frozen" canvas that I have been working on.
And just in time to give it to my daughter on her birthday tomorrow.
Here are the pics for your perusing pleasure:

The foundation of this project is a 11 x 13" stretched canvas.
I used papers in varying shades and patterns of blue and purple to build the backdrop for the dolls.
The papers came from DCWV, ColorBok and Michael's.
I tore the edges, inked them with a light brown ink and arranged them on the canvas using my dolls as reference.
Once I was happy with the paper placement, I used homemade mod podge to adhere them down.

The next step was to cut some embellishments from my Cricut.
I used my Paper Lace 2 cartridge to cut lacy circles out of black cardstock @ 3".
I covered the circles in VersaMark ink and clear embossed them.
I added them to the opposite corners and used Glossy Accents to glue them down.
To dress them up a bit, I added rhinestones to the centers.

I cut some snowflakes from my Teresa Collins December 25th cartridge in different sizes.
I used pop dots to give them added dimension and arranged them throughout the canvas.
I added some smaller embellishments such as punched snowflakes, pearls and rhinestone circles to finish off the look.

For the title, I went with the popular song from the movie "Let It Go".
I used my Paper Lace 2 cartridge again to cut these letters @ 1 1/2".
I clear embossed them, used gel pens to add some highlights and glued them down with Glossy Accents.

All that was left to do was add my dolls to the completed canvas background.

When I was creating these dolls, I didn't really measure anything.
I just drew them out, made templates, cut the papers and put them together.
But for some reason, my Anna doll was a whole head taller than my Elsa.
Yikes! I thought I was going to have to redo Anna in a smaller size to match her sister.
So I grabbed the canvas I was using and started playing around with the placement.
I decided to put Elsa in the background and Anna in the foreground.
And I think it turned out well in the end.

I added a vellum cape to Elsa's dress and used Glossy Accents to glue her down.
For Anna, I went with foam tape as my adhesive.
The foam tape added just the right amount of thickness to lift her off the canvas and give the appearance that she's glancing back at her sister.

And ta-da! project complete!!

I hope you all enjoyed this project for today!
This was truly a labor of love for me and I had fun creating these paper dolls.
The true test comes tomorrow when my baby opens this gift.
I'll end this post here for now and wish you all a great day!!
Peace!! :)

This latest challenge involves a Spring/Easter theme.
So make sure you stop by, link up and check out the awesome projects the DT members have created to inspire you.

http://scrapbookscraftscards.blogspot.com/2014/04/handmade-harbour-springeaster-challenge.html

I went outside the box to create this puzzle using the "Cute Easter Chick" digi stamp.
This was both a quick and challenging project to make.

I began by printing my image onto white cardstock.
I used my Bic Mark It markers to color in the chick.
Once I had the image colored in, I cut it out and set it aside to work on the puzzle.

I used a plain puzzle base that hubby purchased for me from a yard sale.
You can find these plain puzzles online at Oriental Trading Company: orientaltradingcompany.org
I sponged on some blue paint for the sky and green paint for the grass.
I used some washi tape to mark off the areas.
I then set it aside to dry.

I decided to use mod podge to adhere the image to the puzzle.
I also mod podged a few stamped flowers that I colored and cut out.
Once it was dry, I went back in to score the puzzle pieces and used an Xacto knife to cut the image along the score lines.
I then separated all the pieces and added a final coat of mod podge.

And voila! Puzzle complete!!

I think this would make a perfect addition to my daughter's Easter basket.
I hope you enjoyed this project for today.
Enjoy the rest of your day and Peace!! :)

Feeling Sketchy Card Sketch #85!!

Hey Everyone!!  Happy Tuesday to you all!!
For today's post, I have a card I made for the latest Card Sketch challenge over at the Feeling Sketchy blog: http://feeling-sketchy.blogspot.com/.
This is Card Sketch #85:

Our sponsors for this challenge are Molossi and Trinket Track.
Make sure you swing by the Feeling Sketchy blog to link up your project and check out the awesome cards the other DT members have created.

Here is the card I made based on the sketch:

I started with a standard A2 size white card base.
I layered a piece of black cardstock cut @ 3 7/8" x 5 1/4".
I cut another layer out of white cardstock @ 3 3/4" x 5" to layer on top.
I divided my cardstock into two sections.
For the left hand side, I used a stencil I cut from my Paper Lace 2 cartridge and some Key West acrylic paint, to create this floral pattern.
I painted the right hand side with the same paint color and used my washi tape to ensure I get a straight edge.

Once the paint was dry, I took some black embroidery floss wrapped it a few times and used my ATG gun to adhere to the card.
For the trinket, I took a round metal edge tag, added the pieces left over from the stencil to recreate the flower and added a piece of black embroidery floss tied in a bow.
I used foam tape to attach it.

I used an Inkadinkado stamp set for the "Get Well Soon" sentiment and added a few Recollections pearls to add a little bling

And voila! card complete!!

I hope you all enjoyed this project for today.
I had fun creating this simple card to share with you all.
I look forward to seeing your creations!
Enjoy the rest of your day and Peace!! :)
